Medical Exam at CAAP

Before one enrolls and begins as a student pilot in any flight schools, it is important that they must be in good health conditions. So it is a requirement to get medical and physical examinations first before enrollment. When i went to masters last week, the secretary miss mayette instructed me on the things to do and bring upon going to CAAP for my medicals. By the way, CAAP or the civil aviation authority of the philippines is the former ATO or air transportation office. I still don't know why it was changed but i think i remembered reading over some articles that the reason for doing so is because it has a new president and its aim is to make the agency better. It's located near mia road at pasay. So from masters, i took 2 jeepney rides going to CAAP. That day, which was about last week wednesday, i dressed up as comfortable as possible, almost. I wore shirt, jeans, and sandals. So when i got to CAAP, i needed to register to the visitor's logbook and leave any valid id, which was standard procedure for almost anywhere you go to as visitor. While i was writing down my name, i saw behind the guard whose sitting down at the guard seat, a paper posted on the wall that indicated proper attire. It says there that any visitors or employers are not allowed to wear improper outfits, i was wearing sandals, but i thought to myself that hey, the guard might not notice. So i went straight ahead, but unfortunately, the guard noticed. And he told me that i'll get scolded inside if he was to let me in. Im like, "what do i do? i live all the way at mandaluyong and i wasn't aware about this proper attire thing". So he asked me to go to the 1st guard house that i passed by and check if i could borrow a shoes. Thankfully, there were shoes that are available, it was an unoriginal small black shoes about the size of 8 i think, but i wear 11 or 12. So i just took it, borrowed it, rather than having to go back home just to change footwear,or buy cheap shoes which would require me to travel another half hour or so and spend for just one usage.

So finally, i'm inside the agency. It was a pretty small building, about 2 or 3 floors, or 4 maybe i'm not sure. There was a long hallway that each had doors to the right and to the left, different rooms, such as xray rooms, lab rooms, etc. BUt the 1st step is to get a student pilot application form in the second floor, so i did and filled it out borrowing pens from all the doors that i visited, i had a backpack, but could you imagine it didn't had a single pen inside?! After submitting my application form to the airmen's office, the nurse instructed me to pay fees at the cashier and begin with my check ups.. There were also several students who were taking their medicals the same time as i did. Some from airlink, orient aviation, and other schools. I did all my medicals and finished them at about 2 hours i think. What took long is that, each exams, have different rooms, and sometimes i keep passing the rooms that i was supposed to go into. I had eye check ups, dental, urine, xray tests and ecgs. I was like "i wonder what's the connection of my teeth to becoming a pilot" :P but anyways just went on. It wasn't really boring, it wasn't fun either because i was alone, but i needed to complete it. So then the nurse instructed me to go back next week, which was this week, but up to now i still haven't gone back to check my results. Im keeping my fingers crossed that everything will turn out to be positive, or at least normal. Till then! Update you later!

  5. I wanted to ask you how you selected the flight training school to do your flying with? My team and I have done a lot of research over the past years as we read a lot about the pilot shortage and thought that there wasn't a good online source where individuals who wanted to become pilots could go to for them to see all the available Pilot Schools and funding options. With this in mind we created our website, https://www.aviationfly.com/pilot/training-institutes/ which features over 200 Pilot training schools in the Asia Pacific region. It would be great to hear your thoughts on it. Thank you in advance.
